Local Spotlight: Homeslice Chip Co.

In 2011, you may have found brother & sister duo Jordan & Tobi Drori slinging sandwiches. Before long, their sandwich shop had grown to become a popular local catering business. When the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic hit, they knew they needed to pivot using their entrepreneurial spirit to stay afloat and keep their small-business dream alive. They were on the phone daily, brainstorming ideas, testing products, and trying to come up with a new solution to help them through the tough times 2020 threw on everyone.

Their signature chips seemed like a natural option to support them through the COVID-19 pandemic and something they could rally behind during a time when gathering together was advised against, offices were empty, and catering was in a decline. Served as a popular side for their sandwiches and lunches, their chips had been developed & tested over the course of 5-6 years until they finally nailed down their signature chip recipe with a lot of research (and science!) behind finding the perfect potato and frying oil combination to make the perfect chip.

And where did their fun name come from? "We're 80's babies," Tobi offered with a laugh, "so it seemed like a great name when one of our friends suggested it."

"Quality matters to us above all else. We want to form relationships with our customers and that starts with keeping product integrity," Jordan expressed during one of our meetings, "That's why we pack our chips in clear boxes, so the customer can see exactly what they're getting and that the chips aren't crushed like bagged chips sometimes are." As key Tony's Meats & Market values, hearing that integrity, a high-quality product, and customer experience are also important values to Homeslice Chip Co. made the chips they produce that much more of a natural pairing for our markets. "We spend the time and make our chips with care, so we want our customers to have a quality product."

No fillers & no junk, just great chips: Homeslice Chips are made in-house in small batches with no preservatives. Due to their unique process of de-oiling their fried chips, each box can easily last 4+ months, even without preservatives.

They start with high-quality Yukon gold potatoes (a different variety than most chips you're used to with a slightly higher sugar & starch content) which they cut, soak, fry, then de-oil in a unique process that brings you a crisp, yet not greasy, kettle-style chip. Then, they flavor the chips with either sea salt, parmesan cheese & garlic, or a sweet barbecue blend, perfect for pairing with your favorite dishes!

Fun Fact: In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jordan, Tobi, and their team were working hard to keep the community fed with 20-25 deliveries a day to COVID Check CO locations and additional work feeding the homeless.

You can find all 3 flavors of Homeslice Chip Co. chips right here at Tony's, while supplies last! Stay tuned for more flavor updates (we hear there may be a Salt & Vinegar and Sweet Potato chip coming soon!).

Stop by this weekend to take home delicious, locally crafted chips and do so knowing you're supporting one of our favorite local partners.
